Unions at the municipal transport concessionaire in Granada, Rober, have called off their planned indefinite strike which was due to start on January 8th.
The unions achieved their main demand, no layoffs amongst the 340 staff of Rober, even if routes are reorganised, shortened or eliminated. The working week will be shortened from 38 to 37 hours to create 42 new jobs In return, the unions have accepted a wage freeze for 2013 and the suspension of the holiday bonus.
The unions say they will closely monitor compliance with the agreement to ensure that any increased costs of the new collective agreement are not passed on to the public through fare increases or changes to the frequency of the buses.
