The Centre of Contemporary Art in Vélez-Málaga, the first such facility in Andalucia not located in a provincial capital, is almost a reality after 31 months of work (scheduled was 13 months) and a cost of €2.6 million (original budget €2.4 million).
All that remains to be done is the installation of the security system, the electrical system and furniture, the estimated cost of these actions being an additional €65,000.
The centre has an area of 1,800 square metres, covers three floors and will have seven exhibition halls, five of them permanent, shops, library, auditorium and cafeteria.
The project was originally supposed to be completed within 13 months, but numerous delays, including the need to reinforce the foundations, has meant that it has taken a bit longer, namely 31 months so far.
