The toy collection campaign organised by the Spanish Red Cross in Vélez-Málaga has been deemed a great success, the organisation being able to deliver gifts to 180 children up to the age of 14 years in the Axarquia region.
The aim of the campaign was to be able to provide gifts for some of the most needy families in the district. The toys were handed over to the parents who, in turn, were able to pass them on to their children at Christmas.
Despite the economic crisis, the number of items collected exceeded that of last year and the organisation thanks all those who gave so generously.
Involved in the campaign were the municipalities of Canillas de Aceituno, Cútar, El Borge, Iznate, Río Gordo, Sayalonga and Sedella, The Vélez-Málaga Department of Sports, the association of young mothers ‘Única’ in Torrox, AMPA, Almáchar Council, Vélez-Málaga Young Socialists and Eroski.
