Four people have been remanded in custody in connection with the savage beating of a homeless person in Alameda Vieja in Jerez.
The incident occurred while Red Cross officials were distributing food to the needy in the city. The main aggressor, a 19 year old youth, and three companions began beating the homeless man about the head with a hammer, causing a fractured skull and breaking various other bones.
The reason for this vicious attack has still to be determined. The victim is in a serious condition in hospital.
