The Ayamonte Parador has closed today and will remain closed until March 14th 2013 as part of cost cutting measures being introduced within the Parador Group. It will also close between November 4th and December 31st.
The closure affects 30 staff who will fist be listed as ‘on holiday’ before becoming unemployed during these four months.
The unions believe the four months of closure to be excessive, having expected around 40 days with most of the period being taken as holidays by the employees.
The Ayamonte Parador is built on the ruins of the old castle in the La Vila area of the town and overlooks the río Guadiana. Its construction was approved on October 11th 1963 and was inaugurated on Tuesday January 18th 1966.
