For more than ten years now, students from Royal Holloway University in London have been visiting Nerja as part of their studies, and this year fifty geography students have been milling around town.
They have been carrying out research into tourism, environmental and sports issues, including conducting a few surveys into the current economic situation and people’s thoughts on the future prospects.
Turning the tables slightly, I asked one small group for their ‘first impression’ of Nerja and was a little surprised when the first answer was, ‘shock at the number of closed businesses’. The second answer was more predictable for this time of year, ‘picturesque but quiet’.
