A meeting has been arranged for Wednesday evening involving representatives of the Ministry of Culture, Nerja Council, the Nerja Caves Foundation to discuss the possibility of the Ministry becoming involved with the Nerja Museum.
Amongst those the meeting will be the Deputy General of Museums, Enrique Varela, the President of the Nerja Caves Foundation, Jorge Hernández Mollar, the manager of the Nerja Caves Foundation, Ángel Ruiz, and the Mayor of Nerja, José Alberto Armijo.
The Mayor stated that during the previous administration of the Nerja Caves Foundation, there was no communication between the Foundation and the Ministry and, whilst acknowledging the current economic crisis and the general lack of funds, he hopes that some sort of involvement could be forthcoming.
The Nerja Museum, for so long an object of party political disputes and bickering, has been open for a year now but has failed to live up to expectations as far as visitor numbers are concerned. However, the management of the museum are keen to improve the facility on all levels, including content.
