The PSOE opposition spokesman, Luis Peña, has denounced what he describes as a ‘brutal’ price hike in the cost of use of municipal sports schools and facilities.
Peña said that early in the season students paid an annual fee of around €60 per year, but now they also have to pay €10 per month if registered and €20 per month for non-registered. This, he says, represents an increase of 150% over the CPI (Consumer Price Index). He added that this is likely to discourage children from participating in sports.
