Two people, aged 16 years and 27 years, have been arrested as the alleged perpetrators of the theft of religious relics in Ardales, Málaga province.
The stolen items, including rosaries, were listed as Historical Patrimony and have been described as invaluable.
The police investigation began after two thefts were reported, one from the Ardales Castle Museum and the other from the church of Nuestra Señora de los Remedios. In the first robbery, electronic items were stolen, in the second it was the religious artefacts.
Fearing that the stolen items would be sold, police began an extensive investigation and search which resulted in the recovery, the same day, of the items and the arrest of the alleged perpetrators
The stolen items were found hidden in rubbish bags at the home of one of the detainees.
