A header from Cristiano Ronaldo was the only goal of the match against Granada on Saturday evening, but unfortunately it was into his own net. This latest setback means they could end up 18 points behind leaders Barcelona by the end of the weekend and with little or no chance of defending their La Liga title.
Granada, on the other hand, move out of the relegation zone after Celta lost 1-0 to fellow strugglers Osasuna.
The only real battle in La Liga, even at this early stage, seems to be for the fourth Champions League spot and the two Europla League places, with only six points separating fourth placed Málaga and eleventh placed Getafe.
