There are a few changes in the offing relating to the regular Tuesday and Sunday markets in Fuengirola, although many of the details and time scales have yet to be finalised.
The first measure involves the progressive and mandatory introduction of data phones to enable market-goers to pay by credit card.
Another proposal is the homogenisation of the image of the 528 Tuesday stalls and 132 Sunday stalls, much as happens now during the various festivals with all stalls sharing the same aesthetic features.
In addition, the deadline for stallholders to voluntarily pay their licence fees has been set at May 31st. After that date, measures will be taken against those who have not paid and offenders will not be permitted to set up their stalls until the debt is cleared.
There are, however, payment plan options available for those who cannot pay the whole annual licence fee in one go. As from January 1st 2014, anyone still with outstanding debts will have their licence revoked.
