Police are appealing for witnesses to a violent mugging in Marbella at around 02:15 on February 11th which left a 34 year old Swedish woman with a fractured leg. A security camera in the area failed to identify the assailants.
The incident happened near the marina in Marbella. The woman had just withdrawn €20 from a cashpoint machine and was on her way to the bus stop when a group of hooded individuals threw here to the ground and took her recently purchased iPhone and her bag containing €40 and some credit cards.
The woman got up and gave chase, whereupon the youths turned and began to beat and kick her. She was found and helped by passers by who alerted the police.
The woman suffered a fractured femur in her left leg of such severity that doctors at the Costa del Sol Hospital said was only normally seen in road traffic accidents. She needed the insertion of a metal plate with sixteen screws and forty stitches in the wound.
