Benamocarra Council has awarded the contract for the completion of the covered sports pavilion. The project has been stalled for a long time after the two companies previously awarded the contract both filed for bankruptcy.
The contract has been awarded to Fernández Rosillo y Cía in the amount of €630,000, which represents 42% of the total project cost of €1.5 million. The project is being funded by the Junta de Andalucia, Provincial Council and the Municipal Council and the completion period is four months.
The Council will have to assume the cost relating to increases in VAT since the project was first approved, namely from 16% to 18% and then from 18% to 21%.
Another project being carried out is the laying of artificial turf on the local football field at a cost of €240,000.
The Council is also looking at the possibility of converting the municipal swimming pool into an indoor, heated facility.
