The 21 year old driver of a vehicle involved in a fatal collision with two cyclists from the Ronda Cycling Club on Sunday has been charged with negligent homicide and driving under the influence of alcohol. A judge in Antequera ordered the accused to be sent to prison with bail set at €50,000.
The accident occurred on Sunday morning in Campillos at km 108,800 on the road linking Antequera with Arcos and Jerez de la Frontera. The two cyclists, Francisco Javier Fernandez Gamero, aged 55 years, and David Gallego Moreno, aged 36 years, were killed instantly upon impact.
The two cyclists were both from Ronda and were members of the Ronda Cycling Club. The driver of the vehicle tested positive for alcohol and was arrested at the scene.
