A pulsating Champions League game between Real Madrid and Manchester United ended 1-1, giving United the advantage for the second leg. There were numerous missed chances and some great saves from both keepers.
United went ahead through Welbeck but a great header from Cristiano Ronaldo levelled matters a short while later and that’s the way it stayed. Amazingly, only three yellow cards in the entire game and all for United players.
United goalkeeper de Gea had a particularly good game, pulling off some great saves to keep United in the match. De Gea has been much criticised of late but may silenced a few of those critics after Wednesday’s performance.
United must now be slight favourites to go through now with home advantage in the second leg, an away goal in the bag and ‘Fergie time’ on their side.
