The head of the Department of Coasts, Angel González, has been in Nerja to discuss, amongst other things, the Paseo de los Carabineros, a walkway formerly connecting Calahonda beach with Burriana beach but which was closed about ten years ago due to a rockslide.
The discussions apparently centred on what measures would be necessary for the Department of Coasts to reopen at least part of the walkway and it is now up to the Council to draft a feasibility project for approval.
If approval is forthcoming, the Council is proposing a 200 metre section of walkway from Calahonda beach. This would be a circular route, sort of following the old route but nearer to the sea to avoid proximity to the cliffs. There would be two look-viewpoints installed.
