The Council is hoping to persuade the Junta de Andalucia to amend Article 26 of the Order of November 9th 2006 relating to the Strategy for Sustainable Tourism in Andalucia in order to allow Nerja to receive the remaining 25% subsidy for the repairs carried out to the Eagle Aquaduct.
The original Action Plans were arranged through the Mancomunidad de Municipios de la Costa del Sol Axarquía – Commonwealth of Municipalities – and a requirement was that all the Action Plans carried out by the various municipalities involved in the scheme had to be completed and justified before full payment would be forthcoming.
Nerja completed, and justified, the project some two years ago, but there are other municipalities where this is not the case, so Nerja must wait.
The Council wants the rules to be changed in order to receive the outstanding amount of €183,550.54. One avenue being pursued is that Nerja be allowed to deduct the €183,550.54 from quotas to be paid to the Mancomunidad.
