FC Porto dominated the first leg of the last sixteen Champions League match against Málaga bur only came away with a slender 1-0 victory. The Blue and Whites, on the other hand, only managed one shot all match.
The defeat ended Málaga’s unbeaten record in the Champions League and they will have to up their game at La Rosaleda if they are to progress.
The defence was solid, restricting a dominant Porto to just one goal, but once they got to the half way line, the passing was, to say the least, atrocious and they just gave the ball away to their opponents. It was just not the Málaga of earlier rounds and they never looked like scoring.
Julio Baptista, Isco, Joaquin and Roque Santa Cruz had a poor game but Demichelis, Weligton and keeper Willy Caballero were solid in defence and made sure that Porto were kept at bay for most of the match.
The only goal came in the second half, Moutinho side-footing a Sandro cross past Willy.
