A 73 year old man died and around 70 people had to be evacuated from six apartment blocks following a fire on Friday night in calle Aguila in Sanlúcar de Barrameda, Cádiz province.
The fire began at around 23:30 in a second floor apartment and neighbouring blocks were evacuated as a precautionary measure. The apartment where the fire began was completely destroyed and smoke filled the rest of the block.
All but one couple who lived in the apartment above the affected apartment were later allowed to return to their homes. The cause of the blaze is under investigation but the fire is thought to have started in the bedroom.
