Bomb disposal experts from TEDAX have spent two days deactivating and decommissioning eight large projectiles from the Spanish Civil War which were discovered near Obejo, Córdoba.
Department of Environment officials were performing a clean-up in a forest area in a zone known as ‘sal si puedes’ in the municipality of Obejo when they came across eight objects which appeared to be munitions and in a dangerous state. So they called the bomb squad.
The projectiles weighed between 45 and 80 kilos each and contained between 5 and 14 kilos of high explosives. The bomb squad spent two days rendering these old munitions harmless.
