Torrox Council has set up the Citizen Social Network, a group of volunteers who will collect and distribute basic necessities to the more needy in the community.
The Social Welfare Department has set aside a romm where the collected goods can be stored.
Every second Saturday there will be collections of non-perishable products (oil, rice, canned tuna, canned fruit, crackers, canned vegetables, pasta, powdered milk, UHT milk, tomato sauce, juice, flour, cocoa, vegetables, meats and other preserves etc), personal hygiene products and household cleaning and baby products (baby food, cereals and infant formulas, nappies and wipes etc) which have been donated by consumers at various establishments in the municipality.
The Social Network will then evaluate priorities and deliver the goods to the more needy families.
The Social Network will also responsible for the distribution of products that the Council regularly receives from other organisations, such as the Red Cross.
