An exciting game between Manchester United and Real Madrid, one in which always looked like there would be goals. Although a lot of the build-up centred around two players, van Persie and Ronaldo, neither impressed too much, although Ronaldo did score a goal.
Ramos put United in front, deflecting a shot past his own keeper. Then came what was possibly a decisive moment, Nani being ordered from the pitch for dangerous play, flying in with his foot high and catching Arbeola square in the chest. Good decision from the referee, but it did change the complexion of the game a bit.
Then came two goals in three minutes, a stunning strike from substitute Luka Modric followed by Ronaldo sliding in to get on the end of a cross and Manchester United were really up against it.
United attacked and attacked but were denied by some great saves from the Real Madrid keeper. And then it was over, Real Madrid progressing to the quarter finals.
