Negotiations are taking place today between the management of the company Eldon in Martos, Jaén, and the unions to improve the redundancy payments to the 74 employees being laid off as the company moves its operations to Rumania.
Eldon, manufacturer of metal cabinets, has been in Martos for thirty years, but the financial situation has forced it to move its production to their plant in Rumania, leaving 74 people without work.
The unions want the redundancy payment to be one year’s salary, although it is likely to be difficult due to the financial state of the company. Eldon has apparently offered some extra redundancy but to be paid in instalments, something the unions are inclined to mistrust.
