Guardia Civil officers in Granada have arrested a fugitive who has been on the run for eleven years after escaping from custody in 2002.
Convicted of murder and sentenced to 25 years in prison and also with a long criminal record involving 58 arrests for robbery with violence or intimidation, he was serving his sentence in Brians prison in Sant Esteve de Sesrovires, Barcelona.
In October 2002, after appearing in court, he was about to be taken back to prison when around twenty people waiting in the street jumped the police officers and freed the prisoner.
For the past year he had been living in Chauchina, Granada, hardly venturing more than a metre from the front door.
