Torrox Council is endeavouring to promote the SICTED certification system (Spanish Tourism Quality System) so that local companies can obtain a ‘quality certificate’ for their services. The SICTED system covers such concepts quality, competitiveness, profitability and sustainability.
The aim is to produce a uniform level of quality within a tourist destination when it comes to hotels, restaurants, travel agencies, car rental, small businesses, tourist offices etc.
Participation in the SICTED scheme is free and once the required standards have been achieved and reviewed, companies are awarded the SICTED certificate. There are then periodic reviews carried out.
Current SICTED destinations in Andalucia are Alcalá la Real, Antequera, Carmona, Córdoba, El Puerto de Santa María, Granada, Málaga, la Mancomunidad de Islantilla (Lepe-Isla Cristina), Nerja and Sevilla.
