Roca Sanitari has notified employees of its intention to implement redundancies at its plants in Alcalá de Guadaira (Sevilla) and Alcalá de Henares (Madrid), a move affecting 476 workers.
There will be 227 redundancies in Alcalá de Guadaira and 249 in Alcalá de Henares. Compensation has been set at 20 days pay for every year worked with a maximum of 12 months, as stipulated by the law.
However, Roca Sanitario is still prepared to discuss extending the compensation to 40 days and a 24 month maximum as set out by the mediator in the dispute between the management of the company and the unions representing the workers, although the unions earlier rejected the report of the mediator.
Although two rounds of negotiations have failed, despite the company’s willingness to offer redundancy pay far in excess of the statutory amount, Roca is still proposing to relocate 60 workers to its plant in Burgos.
