It’s new, so it has to be tried. El Ancla – formerly Paradise Cocktail Bar (for a short time) and Metropolis – is a new tapas bar in Plaza Tutti Frutti, Nerja. The bar is very spacious, plenty of tables, and there is a good terrace on the square.
At least for the time being, or maybe it will continue, El Ancla offers two tapas with your first drink. The tapas are chosen for you, so if you have any special dietary requirements, you will need to let them know.
First up was a fish broth – caldo de pescado – served in a glass. A sort of glass-a-soup. Novel, and tasty.
Second was a plate of sea monsters with a sort of saurkraut. The fish were presented with their tails in their mouths, also novel. Very tasty indeed. Large portions.
A beer and two tapas was €1.80, which makes it very good value.

Will have to give it a whirl tonight 🙂

Went in last night. Run by two Venezualan brothers who live in Almuñecar. They say the two tapas is permanent. The clam soup was especially delicious. Everyone should give it a whirl
