Taxi drivers in Málaga met this morning with the Mayor of Málaga, Francisco de la Torre, and the delegate from the Ministry of Development of the Junta de Andalucia, Manuel García Peláez, to discuss calling a halt to the proposed strike at Easter.
Manuel García Peláez apparently announced that the Junta de Andalucia has made a concrete proposal to amend Decree 11/85 in order to correct the imbalance affecting the sector in the capital.
The regional government also made a commitment to continue with measures to ensure the correct and proper functioning of the airport taxi service.
The taxi drivers will meet on Sunday morning to discuss the regional government’s commitments and decide whether or not to call off the Easter strike.
The Decree 11/85 allows pre-booked taxis from other municipalities, or even provinces, to pick up and drop off passengers at Málaga airport rather than it being a closed shop.
