There were a few spots of rain at the start of the Miercoles Santo procession through the streets of Nerja but there was plenty of shelter for those onlookers who needed it. Not so for those in the procession, though.
The procession was organised by the organised by the brotherhood Nuestro Padre Jesus Cautivo y Maria Santisima de los Desamperados.
The sound of music and the smell of incense filled the air as the procession slowly, very slowly, made its way through town. The huge ornate thrones are exceptionally heavy, and even with dozens of bearers it is necessary to stop and rest every few metres.
