The Isla Magica theme park in Sevilla opens for the new season on Saturday with thirty rides and shows.
the park is anticipating a total of somweher between 650,000 and 700,000 visitors this year and is offering new 3D shows produced by the company General de Producciones y Diseño (GPD). Around 3,000 season tickets have already been sold.
The season runs to November 3rd 2013. Much of the off-season has been taken up with negotiations relating to the sale of the loss-making park and the number of staff to be made redundant.
An initial figure of 31 job losses amongst the 346 employees is being discussed with the unions, although both parties are trying to find ways of reducing this to 15.
Isla Magica was owned by the Caixa bank after it absorbed Banca Civica and inherited 82.78% of the share capital of the theme park. However, ownership has now been transferred to the French company Looping Group.
