Málaga are back up to fifth in La Liga following a 1-3 win at Rayo Vallecano, although they could slip down again if Valencia beat Atlético Madrid on Sunday. Weligton, Baptista and Pedro Morales were on target for the Blue and Whites, Piti converting a penalty for Rayo.
The top two were both held to draws on Saturday. Barcelona travelled to Celta where the match ended 2-2. Natxo Insa put the home side in front in the 38th minute but their lead only lasted five minutes, Tello collecting a long pass from Messi and grabbing the equaliser.
Tello and Messi combined once more and this time it was Messi who guided the ball into the net. However, like Celta’s lead in the first half, Barcelona’s only lasted five minutes, Oubiña levelling matters once more.
Real Madrid travelled to Zaragoza and were behind after just six minutes when Rodri steered the ball past the keeper. Ronaldo spared Real’s blushes with an equaliser just before half time.
A first half goal from Ruben Garcia was enough to see Levante through against Sevilla, 1-0 the scoreline in that one.
