The Mayor of Nerja, José Alberto Armijo, has announced that the Junta de Andalucia has finally transferred the fifty per cent funding for the School Workshop ‘Nerja Sierra Mar’. This workshop and the Employment Workshop ‘Acueducto del Águila’ were requested in January 2011 and approved by the Junta de Andalucia in December 2011, according to the Mayor.
The School Workshop will provide the opportunity for under 25’s to learn a trade in any of four disciplines being taught: geriatric care, gardening, stage design and information and public service.
Participants, a maximum of forty, will have both theoretical and practical tuition for a period of 18 months. For the first 6 months, a grant of €180 will be paid and then for the next 12 months, participants will sign a training contract and receive €550 per month.
The Mayor expressed his ‘gratitude’ to the Junta de Andalucia for the funds, albeit late in arriving, and added that he will be asking the regional government to transfer the funds for the Employment Workshop, a project which will benefit under 25’s.
