The Council has today approved yet another motion requesting the Junta de Andalucia, specifically the Ministry of Economy, Innovation, Science and Employment, to honour its debts to the charitable organisation Taller de la Amistad.
Taller de la Amistad relies entirely upon charitable donations and assistance from various government authorities, providing gainful employment for the disabled. Without funds, these projects, and jobs, are being put in danger.
The Ministry of Economy, Innovation, Science and Employment still owes the Taller de la Amistad €123,803.
In addition, the motion also calls for the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare to pay monies owing to the Taller de la Amistad Occupational Centre (€47,914.05) and the day Unit (€55,148.55).
The Council states that it has been providing funds to the Taller de la Amistad since 2002 and, unlike the regional government, is not in arrears.
