Fuengirola Council has reminded the IU party that it is illegal to distribute leaflets in the town under Article 101 of the Municipal Ordinance relating to public roads.
The IU wanted to distribute political leaflets between April 10th and 13th and have filed a complaint with the courts that they were denied permission.
The Council pointed out that under Article 101, it is not allowed to advertise, conduct surveys or present a product by methods to attract customers which could, in the opinion of the local authorities, harm the tourist image of the municipality. This includes the distribution of leaflets.
The Council pointed out that the IU should know the municipal ordinances and if everyone else, businesses and individuals, is prohibited from distributing leaflets, why should there be an exception made for a political party.
