The well-greased wheels of the government machine have moved swiftly into action, making a pleasant change from all the palms we usually read about these days, as the Council of Ministers has approved financial aid of €1.5 million to help alleviate the damage caused by the devastating fires on the Costa del Sol back in August 2012.
The Government has approved a total package of €17 million for the forest fires which ravaged large areas of Andalucía, Castilla y León, Castilla-La Mancha, Valencia, Cataluña, Aragón, Murcia, Madrid and the Canary Islands.
The Government is funding works to be carried out by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Environment on reforestation, erosion prevention, clearing od burnt areas, hydrological repairs, habitat restoration and improving forest roads and infrastructure.
