A 29 year old man, initials C.M.L., has been arrested in Roquetas de Mar, Almeria, on charges of defrauding 44 African immigrants by offering fake employment contracts.
The man, who has several prior arrests for similar crimes, set up a ‘ghost’ company to launder €25,000 obtained from the immigrants. For sums varying from €400 to €1,500 he offered them employment contracts so they could become legal in Spain.
Applications for residency at the Foreigners Office in Almeria were subsequently rejected because the ghost company had debts of €11,319 with the Social Security Department.
