The recession continues to bite with official unemployment in Spain now at a new record high of 6,.202,700, representing 27.16% of the workforce. The number of people out of work increased by 4% in the first quarter when compared to the previous quarter.
Youth unemployment (under 25’s) rose to 57.22% in the first quarter, an increase of 3.2%.
In Andalucia, a further 31,000 people joined the ranks of the unemployed to brink the figure up to 1,473,700, representing 36.87% of the workforce.
There are now 1,906,100 households where no family member has a job.
