Two hikers died on Sunday after apparently being caught in an avalanche in the Montella i Martinet area of the sierra del Cadí in Lleida.
The Emergency Services received a call from one of the hikers to say they were in trouble and rescue teams went to the area. The bodies were discovered in the Canal de l’ Ordiguer area of sierra del Cadí.
The two hikers, both aged 39 years, were residents of Santa Perpetua in Mogoda, Barcelona. The exact casue of the accident is not yet known but the initial hypothesis formed by the rescue services is that the two men were surprised by an avalanche.
