The Council has a motion to once again request the Junta de Andalucia to invest some of the monies obtained through the imposition of the canon under the Andalucia Water Act, approved in 2010, in sanitation projects in Nerja.
According to the Council, the Junta de Andalucia has already received revenues of €63 million, €400,000 from Nerja, but has yet to execute a single water-related project.
Again according to the Council, among the investments originally anticipated was the sewage plant for Nerja. This, however, is now being funded by the Central Government.
As a result, the Council wants the Junta de Andalucia to expedite the paperwork to allow sanitation projects to be carried out, if not by the regional authority itself then by the local municipalities.
The motion was, quite naturally, only supported by the ruling Partido Popular.
