Real Madrid dominated the match against a Borussia Dortmund, who began with time-wasting as early as the first minute, and one got the impression that once they got the ball into the back of the net, the floodgates would open. In the end it was too little, too late and Borussia go through to the final of the Champions League.
Real just couldn’t convert their dominance and countless chances into goals until late in the second half when Benzema and then Ramos scored in quick succession, setting up a tense last few minutes.
It was an enthralling, almost entirely one-sided game and Real looked an entirely different proposition to last week and will be left to rue their poor performance in the first leg.
