The Councillor for Cleaning and Urban Ecology, José Miguel García, has reported that during the past few days, the Council has been implementing the municipal ordinances relating to the keeping of animals and the Local Police have fined several people for not cleaning up after their animals.
The fines currently being handed out are for offences considered ‘mild’ and carrying penalties ranging from €30 to €120. Serious offences can attract a fine of between €121 and €600 and very serious offences can attract a fine of €601 upwards.
The Councillor stated that he would like to remind all pet owners to respect the municipal ordinances in order to avoid being sanctioned.
