A local resident, who obviously prefers to remain anonymous, has returned his library book….52 years after taking it out!
The book, ‘El lenguaje, introducción lingüística a la Historia’ by J. Vendreys, was taken out from the Municipal Library on May 25th 1961 and since then has adorned the man’s bookshelf, first in Nerja and then later in Málaga, where he now resides.
However, a twinge of remorse at seeing the book on his shelf every day led the man to finally return the book, although he did so by handing it to a local Councillor of his acquaintance with a request that it be deposited in the library.
According to the current librarian, Adela Armijo, she had never come across an instance of a book being returned more than four or five years late. Until now. Wonder if he ever got round to reading it?
