It would appear that the Local Police in La Linea de La Concepción, Cádiz province, are none too happy with the situation in the municipality. Although they are now being paid on a regular basis, the socialist government owes around eight months pay to municipal employees. In addition, officers are, on occasion, having to use their own vehicles to attend incidents.
The Police Union SPLL has stated that requests for materials, vehicles etc made during the past year have gone unanswered and this impacts on public safety. As to officers having to use private vehicles for official duties, this means that the vehicles have no legal right of way and this could jeopardise public safety.
The Local Police have been receiving regular salary payments for several months now, but the Council has apparently done nothing to reduce the debts owed to public employees, despite the announcement of a municipal surplus.
