Malaga suffered a bit of a drubbing on Wednesday evening, losing 6-2 to Real Madrid and finishing the match with only nine men after Sanchez and Demichelis were both ordered back to the dressing room.
Albiol gave Real the lead after just two minutes but it wasn’t long before it was all square again, Santa Cruz finding the back of the net.
Strikes from Ronaldo and Ozil made it 3-1 but Malaga came back again to make it 3-2 courtesy of Antunes. Then came goals from Benzema, Modric and Di Maria to make the final score 6-2.
Sanchez was sent off after thirty minutes when Ronaldo tumbled theatrically in the area but justice was done when Willy Caballero saved the ensuing penalty kick. Unfortunately, though, in saving the penalty he injured his ankle and had to be substituted shortly after.
Demichelis became the second Malaga player to be dismissed after he picked up a second booking fifteen minutes before the end.
