Vélez-Málaga Council is currently intending to introduce new amendments to the public transport system in order to cut travelling times and boost passenger numbers. Officials will meet next week with the transport concessionaire Travelsa in order to try and finalise the proposals.
The amendments could result in the disappearance of some under-utilised stops, thus speeding up journey times. Some routes could cease to be served by the municipal service.
One example is the route from Caleta de Vélez and the Hospital and Almayate. The number of users is low, making it an inefficient route, and one idea being put forward is for this route to be served by Alsa, the regional bus company, a move which might well even increase the frequency of buses.
