The Ministry of Public Works of the Junta de Andalucia has started to construct a temporary 600 metre concrete walkway between between El Puente and Álora station, the walkway to run parallel to the A-343, in order to improve pedestrian safety as the iron bridge linking the two suburbs was washed away in the floods of last September.
The temporary walkway, budgeted at €502,51.00, will run parallel to the A-343. The old iron bridge, washed away last September when the rio Guadalhorce overflowed, still lies in the riverbed.
Local residents have been requesting a solution to the problem for a long time due to the danger of having to walk via the hard shoulder and will no doubt be pleased with the prompt action.
