Sunday was the penultimate day of La Liga and some interesting results and a few chances in the all important ‘European placings’.
Real Madrid played out a 3-3 draw at Real Sociedad, a result which saw Real Sociedad slip from fourth to fifth place in La Liga. Higuaín, Callejón and Khedira scored for Madrid, Xabi Prieto withtwo and Griezmann responding for the home side.
Valencia move up to fourth with a 1-0 win over Granada courtesy of Soldado’s second half header. No yellow cards at all in this match. Despite the loss, Granada are safe and will be playing top flight football next year.
Málaga are back up to sixth after a 3-1 over Osasuna at La Rosaleda. Saviola and Baptista gave the Blue and Whites a good start before Salomao pulled one back for Osasuna. But Isco restored the margin with an 80th minute shot which went in off the bar.
Málaga, of coyrse, still look likely to be banned from European competition next season, despite the ‘false alarm’ earlier in the week when a translation error led UEFA to announce a ‘reprieve’.
