Today is the XIV Día del Caracol – Day of the Snail – in Riogordo, Málaga province, where you can sample this traditional local delicacy.Aanise, orange peel, black pepper, aniseed, mint, bay leaf, thyme, pepper and salt are some of the herbs and spices used in the preparation of the snails.
At 12:00 there is a workshop where you can learn how to prepare snails in broth. There are parades, various musical performances, exhibitions and, of course, around 300 kilos of snails to be eaten.
For the second year running, the tasting of the snails is not free but will cost €0.50 for a tapa and €2 for a ración.
The event takes place near the municipal swimming pool.
