June is here and, faced with ever-dwindling numbers of users on some of the toll roads, particularly during the summer months, it has been decided to raise the cost of ‘high season’ travel on these roads, that’s from June 1st to September 30th and the 17 days between Good Friday and the Sunday after Easter.
Regular increases, extra VAT and the decision of the Ministry of Development to stop subsidising the toll roads has already led to motorists taking alternative, less costly on the pocket, routes.
The AP-7 Malaga to Guadiaro motorway, which opened in two phases between 1999 and 2002, has seen a year on year decline in users, particularly during the summer months, so the cost of this section will be going up by around 38% for the high season when compared to the winter tariff.
From Fuengirola to Guadiaro, a distance of 105 kilometres, will now cost €15:45, which is €5.95 more than the winter price.
