It was originally envisaged that work to restore ‘La Dorada’, the replica of the boat used in the popular TV series Verano Azul, would begin at the end of last summer. However, it would appear that the damage to the vessel was greater than first thought and this meant that a complete project had to be drafted.
This project has now been approved and the cost of the repair work is currently estimated at €36,309. The Council plans to contact Televisión Española to solicit collaboration with the restoration costs as the boat is a symbol of the TV company and their highly successful Verano Azul series.
The fishing boat ‘La Dorada’ was made famous in the 1980′s TV series ‘Verano Azul’ and was the abode of the old seawolf “Chanquete”, played by Antonio Ferrandis. The replica stands in the Parque Verano Azul as a tribute to all those who contributed to the TV series and, as a consequence, raised the world-wide profile of Nerja.
